2020 Presidential Election: As the date of November 20 approaches, when U.S. federal law says states must certify their election totals, the atmosphere in Washington, D.C. is getting increasingly tense.
Trump continues to claim that he won the election, despite the fact that the vote totals from the states do not warrant that claim. His legal team has pursued a number of lawsuits in state and federal court, and at this point all have been rejected by judges, both from the Democratic and Republican Parties, as the actions all come on the basis of hearsay affidavits, which do not pass the definition of proof without corroboration.
In an attempt to bring some star power to the situation, Trump has put former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani in charge of his cases – and it looks like Giuliani thinks the Supreme Court should weigh in.

Rudy Giuliani Wants the Supreme Court to Decide the Election
In the 2000 Presidential election, the contest between George W. Bush and Al Gore came down to Florida, a state that went for Bush – but only by 537 votes. Delays in counting and certifying the results pushed the situation into the Supreme Court, which held that the existing count should be certified, even though it was not final. Eventually, the final count still upheld Bush’s win.
Giuliani’s push does not seem to be headed for success for the Republicans, though. In his first foray into Trump’s legal campaign, Giuliani ended up in front of a federal judge in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Giuliani made claims that a “Mafia-like” collection of Democratic leaders across the nation utilized mail-in ballots to steal the election for Joe Biden.
The former NYC Mayor had no evidence to present in support of this claim, but that did not stop him from asking Judge Matthew Brann to invalidate the entire state of Pennsylvania’s votes in the presidential election. Giuliani and the rest of Trump’s legal team have yet to make any specific allegations about any ballot that was deliberately cast in violation of the law, let alone back up those allegations with evidence. It will be difficult even to get a hearing in front of the Supreme Court at this point, but Trump shows no signs of moving toward conceding this election.
