UNITED STATES POLITICS: WHO WILL BE PRESIDENT IN 2024?

The transition of power in United States politics will not occur until Jan. 20 next year, but that doesn’t mean that the bookies aren’t already looking ahead to 2024. While many people are weary of political talk right now, it’s fun to look into the crystal ball to see if we can get an idea of who might be in office in 2024.

Our good friends over at Jazz Sports are taking wagers on the next election already, so we thought it might be a good idea to take a closer look at the current odds.

Biden and Harris Among the Favorites

It will be interesting to see what the next four years brings and what kind of job President-elect Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris do. Joe Biden is certainly not guaranteed to run again. He will be 82 years old when 2024 rolls around, so he might well decide to opt out and leave the job to someone younger. Still, Jazz Sports has him at +1000 right now, but he is not the current favorite. That distinction goes to Kamala Harris, who is currently sitting at +500.

If Bides does indeed step down, the Democrats will probably have other candidates looking to take a run at the job. Andrew Yang (+1600) and Pete Buttigieg (+1850), both of whom ran in 2020, will almost certainly be back in the picture. We may well have another woman enter the fray on the Democratic side, with rumors emerging that Michelle Obama (+2000) might be interested in running for office.

A Look at the Republican Favorites

Even as the 2020 election was slipping away, Donald Trump and his team were already talking about taking another run in 2024. The president made a big splash in United States politics in 2016 by running a strong campaign that took him all the way to the White House. As this election proved, he still has a strong following, which is why he is in at +1000 and the favorite on the Republican side.

Vice President Mike Pence (+1100) is also considered to be among the favorites for the GOP, while former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (+1000) is a pick that people who are ready for a female president are sure to like.
