PRESIDENT BIDEN PROPOSES HIS STRATEGY TO COMBAT COVID-19

President Joe Biden was inaugurated on Wednesday, and he got to work right after he took the Oath of Office. Biden has unveiled a new strategy to combat COVID-19 in the “dark winter” that’s ahead.

Current COVID-19 Numbers

Biden has claimed that the next few months “may well be the toughest and deadliest period of the virus.” The United States is facing unprecedented times, and more infections are occurring every day. New strains of the virus are also being discovered all over the world.

There have been 24.5 million COVID-19 cases in the United States. In addition to this, the virus has claimed over 406,000 lives.

Biden has stated that Donald Trump didn’t handle the pandemic in a way that benefited the nation. It’s now President Biden’s turn to neutralize the COVID-19 pandemic.

The New Strategy

Biden announced some of his plans to combat COVID-19 prior to taking office. However, his strategy is now concrete following his inauguration.

Biden wants to increase vaccinations and testing, reopen the economy safely through the use of masks, and include a mandatory travel mask mandate in the United States.

One issue that Biden announced is that they don’t know all of Trump’s vaccination plans. This could delay the vaccination process because they’re trying to change a plan that they don’t fully understand.

The Trump and Biden Administrations didn’t have a completely peaceful transition of power, so this could hurt Biden with his future legislation.

The Biden Administration is relying on Congress to help instill its agenda. Congress will need to approve a $1.9 trillion economic relief package.

Biden is already being attacked by states. The Biden Administration is asking states to increase their COVID-19 vaccinations.
However, these states don’t have the means to do this, so they have made their opinions heard by the new administration.

Mandatory Mask Mandate for All Travel

Masks have been highly recommended by the health professionals like Dr. Anthony Fauci. The Biden Administration took this to a new level following the inauguration.

Biden will be mandating masks for all US means of public transportation. This includes airports and planes, ships, intercity buses, trains and public transportation.

There are other mask mandates in play under President Biden. On all federal property, masks are mandatory.

Also, international travelers coming to the United States must have a negative test before stepping on an airplane. When they arrive on US soil, Biden is enforcing a mandatory quarantine throughout the country.

Most forms of transportation had already enforced masks prior to Biden, but there was never a federal mandate. Under Biden’s order, there is no wiggle room. If passengers don’t wear a mask, they will be unable to travel in a public setting.

100 Million Shots

Biden is also focusing on vaccinations to combat COVID-19. His goal is for 100 million shots to be administered in his first 100 days in office. There have only been 17.2 million shots given since the vaccine became available.

Yet, this isn’t a sustainable goal, according to experts in the health field. Biden is hoping to make shots available at local pharmacies in the next month, so this should elevate the nation’s ability to vaccinate citizens. Biden will be dealing with the virus for the extended future.
